Nothing in Particular

I have been reading so many posts about people and their lives. Being a part of this world makes me feel like I belong somewhere. Its just the weirdest thing.

When I moved to Mumbai, I was this very different person. I was coming from a different place in life and moving here I thought was the best decision I've ever made. At that time, it was. I was super enthusiastic about everything around me. New place, new life, new freedom - all those things that I wanted.

Its only Words!

Remember "Smile,an ever lasting Smile, A smile can bring you near to me..."

When I decided to call my blog Words as a form of life, Somewhere at the back my head I had this song.

"Its only words, and words are all I have, to take your heart away"

I have always wondered, why you need anything else to sustain any kind of relationship? Doesn't it start with words, and finish with them? For a long time, this was my favorite song, and I would completely abide by it.

Then, I heard this  You Say it best, when you say nothing at all! And then, I couldn't stop loving the song.

Notice how things, small and big sometimes make a major difference in your lives?
It could be a song, a book, an article from a magazine you touched for the first time, a friend you made, a series of incidents, a petty love affair, a friend's love affair, money, television shows, movies, people who cheat, people who suffer, people who love and people who teach.

These differences make us who we are. Its not where you do your graduation, or what you do in post graduation, its not where you work or how much money your dad has.

I relate to that person today. The person I am because of the differences made in my life. They needn't be good;  but they define me in some way. Am I the same person I was a couple of years ago? No.. Well, Am I the same person I was A couple of weeks ago? Still no! Do I love this person, despite all the change, hell yes! Then why do people find it difficult to accept others who have changed? Why is it that people tend to have problems with people because they have changed? Would you stop loving yourself for the changes in you?

Its been more than a year since I moved to Mumbai, and almost 10 months since I wrote this. A whole universe has changed from then and now. Work, politics, work politics, Friendships, Roommates, Romance, Relatives and equations between all of them have changed. And all this within Mumbai. And the world outside of that - phew, I don't know where to begin! Bangalore, Delhi have made me realize that home can be anywhere as long as there is love and warmth, And there are those people who I can share my feelings with and those I can spend my time in silence without having to say a word, still feeling complete.

So today, even though I feel so completely the same person I was in Class 8; I am not her. I have grown up (and big) from then, and I have completely trusted my path whichever I have taken, to be the best one for me.

There could've been improvements, but I would not trade this for anything else. For all the mistakes I have made, the lessons I have learnt, I will forever be grateful to every single person who made the DIFFERENCE in my life. Because Its Only Words which keep us connected to this world we live in. And these Words are our life, if not just A form of Life!!!

Too deep for a Friday post, huh? Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!! :D

October :)

A long hiatus since I've visited this place, and all your beautiful blogs in a while; but this past month has been like a roller coaster in my life!! I had been extremely caught up in this thing called life! New home, new responsibilities and a love life of sorts; and if this wasn't enough I had to attend my busy schedules at Cafe World on Facebook!  :) :) :)

The end of the month was wonderful, as I had my brother [ who is pursuing his graduation in the 6th best Enginnering College in India - yaay! I'm sooo proud of my baby brother!! ] visit me! It was amazing amazing bonding with him!! He's all a big boy now! I took him around Mumbai, we saw "Julie and Julia" together..!! And I missed blogging soo much! I could relate to most of the things Julie did while blogging! How every comment matters, how sometimes the response of certain people online has more value than probably someone in real life!! All you fellow blog friends out there, I think it should be a must watch!!

Well, after getting loads n loads of stuff for him to eat, we went to my most favorite place in Mumbai - "Marine Drive" I love that place, It gives me a sense of satisfaction, a sense of individuality; but I think, I've always mentioned this, so I won't go on and on about it! :)

My parents also came to town, and it was very nice meeting them after three long months! Its surprising to see how equations with your parents change once you start living on your own, and you're not as dependent on them as you used to be, physically, emotionally and financially! And they also stop treating you like a baby, and respect your individuality. I miss my parents dearly but I think living on my own, on my own terms and conditions, making mistakes, learning from them is wonderful too.

And the month literally ended ( well, as November just began ) with my Cousin's engagement. Family fun is sooo much fun here in Mumbai, and this time my brother got to be a part of it. Now, all i want is for November to sweetly get over, as, I am waiting for December. :D

Ok, Before I forget!! I want to Thank Sid for these three wonderful awards!! I don't know how much I deserve them, as I was on a blog break! But hey, thats what blogs are for... aren't they! Blogs are those friends who are there, always, no matter what, they are there for you, right? Unless, ofcourse it gets hacked.. :P :)

Ok so the three awards are: Butterfly Award for The Coolest blog :) [ ice, ice baby ;) ]

and.. The Awesome Blogger Award - [Yaaaay me!! ;)]

and... The Blog Buddies Award!!

I am not going to be mean, and keep all the awards for myself; but the distribution ceremony will be made in a post dedicated only to it!! Thanks again Sid, and I hope the writers block disappears!

I promise to write more often too!! Love y'all loads!! Happy November! :D

Truly Madly Deeply!

Back to the present! I have spoken enough about the past and its high time I get back to today. It sounds funny doesn't it? "Back to the present" Nevermind that. Happy Festival people! Ganpathi and Ramadan. :-)

I have been attending the GSB Seva Mandal's Ganpathi Celebrations here in Mumbai, and everyday it surprises me, in some way or another. First of all, the sheer size of the Idol, Gigantic!
Then, the number of people who actually come there, huge! 12:15 a.m on the third night, and still, people around are equal in number to the people who were present at around 7:00 p.m. And everyday, different people, diffierent communities.

There's a standing joke amongst all the GSB's, that the number of people from other communities are so huge, that, from Gowd Saraswath Brahmins, GSB in Mumbai will soon mean, Gujrathi, Sindhi and Bunts! Its nice catching up with family in the nights, I don't get to stay the whole day obviously because of work.

I didn't even imagine I'd like doing this so much. In Bangalore, I would have visited our Math(Kashi Math - the community temple) for one day and for, like, five minutes. Just go, pray and get back home, or out somewhere with friends! I miss Pooj's place ka Ganpathi and meeting all of Pooj's friends and relatives.

But one thing suddenly hit me, all of a sudden, when I was in the crowded pendal last night! Looking at all the people over there, I felt so completely alone and helpless. Why alone? Coz' I didn't have one person there who I could call my own, and why helpless? Coz' I actually have sooo many people (relative's and fellow community people) who could (and would) be there for me, as my people(of sorts), and I didn't want to be with anyone.

There's something which has been disturbing me from quite sometime, and I am unable to figure out what! I have been trying and trying, and I thought writing about it might help me. Well, lets wait and watch! :-)

I am also finding it difficult to have a proper decent conversation with anyone. Me! Someone who cannot shut up! I have no idea what I am supposed to say to whom. According to Mani - I need a new set of friends! How well she knows me. I am the curious kind. Inquisitive about everything I am not supposed to know about. If there's something available directly, I woudn't be as interested in it, as I would be if it was something I found out! :P

I think its high time I de-clutter my head! I am looking at shifting houses too! I am praying I get the one near office. It'll really be of huge help. I spoke to someone I wasn't supposed to speak to, today. And now, I am feeling guilty about it.

So, now why Truly Madly Deeply? Because I am truly trying hard to make things better with me! I am Madly in love with nothing or noone and I need to fix that soon ;-)! and Deeply, Coz' yet again I am Deeply in Awe of the city which has accepted me for who I am and for the versatility and strength the city has!

Thats it for now! Signing off! Will write soon, Again!! :-)

Mmuuuuaaaaaah!!

A li'l more than two months!!

It's been a little more than two months since I came to Mumbai, and the experience has been wonderful!! ( yeah yeah.. despite all the cribbing.. ;-) )

Sometimes I feel like, I reached here just yesterday and sometimes I feel like a lifetime has been spent here! Work is pretty decent, though I am still not sure what I am really supposed to be doing. People at work are nice. Its a regular office crowd. Why do I like it so much? Well, first n foremost its the variety. Different people, different lives and how they coincide within the circular walls of the IL&FS building, 4th floor. :-D

I was initially very sad, as most of the people in my team were older than me and married. So you know, a normal lunch / tea time discussion involved - their kids, husbands and in-laws! But slowly I saw a new side to this whole scenario. These people( here I'm talking of just the women) had sooo much more than just the casual talks. I have come to like them soo much so that sometimes when I have to go to the other office(yes! I am a "mobile employee") I miss them sooo much! Other than that, you have the regular office link-ups, n gossip! which is truly fun and very harmless. I like it here.

Living at my aunt's place, right now feels like the best decision I could've taken. Why?
Here I have family and I love them loads, and hence don't feel the hollowness of not having mom dad n bro with me. Plus she's my favorite aunt, and my cousin - however much we fight n bicker - I have come to adore him and respect him loads more! My other cousins have also been loads of fun, new thing for me getting to spend quality time with my folks!!

Well, plus I had a visit from one of my closest friends from Bengaluru! Well categorically, it was an amazing weekend! Things happened that weekend which happened for the first time in my life!! :D.. I wish I could put all of it here, but I'll keep it for some other day!!

Last, but not the least, the guys!!! How can I talk of Mumbai and not mention them. The same people during training in B'lore were sooo completely different from the "Men" they are today. They are sooo busy with their Business Development, sometimes I feel all alone when I don't meet them for weeks! [ thats when the regular office people make me feel super good - like somehow they know how I'm feeling] But then, all of a sudden, they become these gentlemen(again something they weren't during training) and take time out to go out and sit with me by the sea, at either marine drive or Worli sea face [ god! i love them(places)!! and these make me fall in love with Mumbai even more ].

So, two months on my own, and life has happened! It feels nice to have left most relations back in b'lore and come to a new city to make new relations. I haven't run away from my problems, I have just been running towards life!! Now going back to bangalore, even if only for just a week, is like going back to another world! A world that I have truly truly missed, grown up within. Its like going back to school and standing on the stage, where you've performed many many times, after years of graduating from there.

Lovely feeling, isn't it?

What should I expect out of Mumbai?

Yes, Long time since I claimed to do this more often, Can't really help I guess!! :)

To get a Job in IBM is one thing; to get a IT company to give a girl from Bangalore a job posting in Mumbai is another!! Lots of people have asked me this : Why Mumbai??
- is it because u were born here?
- or because u have loads of relatives here?
- or because you want to stay away from home??

The answer has always been the fourth option : None of these

A great person once said "Spend atleast 6 months of ur life in Bombay. Else you'll never know what you missed! trust me on this one."

So I came here, to find out what I missed! I have always wanted to live in another city away from home. The city could've been anything.. Delhi, Kolkata, Jaipur, So that option couldn't answer the why Mumbai part! The question it answered was why not B'lore!! ;-)

I have been waiting to experience what I missed; Its just been a couple of weeks now.. and I'm here for more than Six months! So lets wait n watch, what say?

So, What should I expect out of Mumbai?
